Title: Jets in Neutron Star X-ray Binaries: A Multiwavelength Campaign for Sco X-1

Abstract: Jets are a ubiquitous feature in many different astrophysical objects. Among the best systems to study jet properties and formation are Galactic X-ray binaries (XRBs), systems composed of a neutron star or black hole accreting matter from a `normal' star mass donor. The past few years have seen significant advances in the characterization of jets in XRBs, particularly through modeling of the broad band spectral distribution from the radio to the X-rays. We propose here to study the broadband spectrum from radio to X-rays of Sco X-1, the prototypical XRB, in order to constrain the contribution of jet radiation, determine the location and size of the jet acceleration region, and compare jet launch mechanisms between black hole and neutron star systems. We have approved observing time with both the Spitzer Space Telescope and the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer (RXTE). We ask here for coordinated ground-based optical and near-IR observations to sample the entire SED of the system.
