Title: Star Formation Below the Main Sequence
Abstract: GNIRS low-resolution spectra will be taken of objects that are believed to be brown dwarfs in the process of formation. The candidate objects are relatively unreddened H-alpha emitters in three nearby T associations, principally Chamaeleon T1. The molecular features present will be used to classify the objects; together with available photometry (principally from 2MASS) this will enable determination of temperatures and luminosities and to place them on evolutionary tracks.
