Title: Photometry of Extremely Metal Poor Stars from the Hamburg/ESO Stellar Survey

Abstract: We are carrying out a large scale effort to locate and analyze extremely metal poor field halo stars from the Hamburg/ESO Stellar Survey database. In order to determine accurate stellar parameters for those stars chosen for observation at high spectral resolution and a subsequent detailed abundance analysis, we require high precision photometry. The goal of our current request to CTIO is to obtain such photometry for our small list of eleven additional candidates in the spring HES fields, each of which has been vetted with moderate dispersion spectra from a 5-m class telescope, and each of which has already been observed or is scheduled to be observed at high resolution with a still larger telescope. All of these stars are believed to have [Fe/H] < -2.5 dex, and many of them are believed to be below -3 dex.
