Title: Cluster survey of protoplanetary disk evolution
Abstract: We propose to identify the low-mass (0.8 - 0.3 M_\odot) members of two clusters in the Cep OB2 association. Based on our previous observations with Hydra, Tr 37 and NGC 7160 have ages of ~ 3-5 and ~ 10 Myr, respectively, and thus span the epoch during which protoplanetary disk infrared emission and mass accretion drops precipitously, probably as the result of (giant) planet formation. Observations of photometric candidates with Hydra will identify members based on H(alpha) emission and Li I 6707 Aabsorption. The result will be the first statistically significant samples of stars with well- established ages in the 3-10 Myr range for studies of disk evolution as a function of stellar mass and age.
