This is the dome which encloses the 0.9m telescope, as seen at sunset. The shutters around the perimiter of the dome open at night, allowing air to flow freely through the dome. This smooth flow of air improves the image quality, allowing astronomers to see smaller details.

  This is the 0.9m telescope. The red cylinder at the bottom of the telescope contains the CCD camera which captures the image.
