Title: Measuring the endpoints of stellar rotation with TESS

Abstract: We propose to obtain high-S/N, optical spectroscopy with SOAR/Goodman to complement our growing sample of what could exceed 150 pulsating white dwarfs observed from space, using {em Kepler}, {em K2}, and now {em TESS}. The value added by our SOAR/Goodman spectra is profound, by providing independent estimates of white dwarf atmospheric parameters (effective temperature and surface gravity, and thus mass), which in turn puts significant external constraints on our asteroseismic solutions. The majority of pulsating white dwarfs observed from space have rotation rates determined from their pulsations. When complemented with SOAR/Goodman spectroscopy, our complete space-based dataset will set foundational constraints on the endpoints of internal angular momentum evolution in stars covering a wide range of progenitors, spanning roughly 1-5 solar-mass stars on the main sequence. We propose here to extend our successful program to obtain SOAR/Goodman spectra of pulsating white dw arfs observed by {em Kepler/K2} to new pulsators discovered by {em TESS}.
