Title: SFACT: A New Deep Narrow-Band Imaging Survey with WIYN
Abstract: We wish to continue our new survey for strong emission-line galaxies. Known as SFACT -- Star-Formation Across Cosmic Time -- the survey uses the well-established narrow-band filter search technique to detect faint star-forming galaxies at a range of redshifts. SFACT utilizes the new narrow-band filters purchased for use with the up- graded ODI focal plane on WIYN. Our survey method represents an extension of the H$alpha$ Dot survey method to fainter objects and higher redshifts. We expect to detect sources with R magnitudes between 20 and 24 via a range of emission lines (e.g., H$alpha$, [O~III], [O~II], Ly-$alpha$) and covering a large range of redshifts. The nature of our survey technique allows us to simultaneously probe the star-formation properties of galaxies over a wide swath of cosmic lookback time. This includes galaxies in the local universe, via H$alpha$ detections, through a time when the universe was less than half its current age using [O II] emitters. We are requesting telescope time for both the imaging survey observations with ODI as well as confirming spectroscopic observations with Hydra.
