Title: Warm Ionized Gas Kinematics of CHILES Group Galaxies
Abstract: Processes governing the kinematics of gas in galaxies are a complex and important component in understanding the overall formation and evolution of galaxies in the universe. These processes can vary with galactic environment, such as in groups and clusters. Observations of cold neutral hydrogen via 21-cm emission is a primary method for investigating gas motions on a galactic scale, tracing the recent star formation history by revealing infall or outflow in the form of non- circular motion in the measured velocity field. The non-circular motions of cold neutral gas often correspond to ionized gas motion as well. Thus, the proposed HexPak observations aim to get a complementary picture of the recent star formation history by tracing the kinematics of the ionized gas and the underlying stellar population in six galaxies in groups for which deep 21-cm data has been obtained as part of the CHILES survey.
