Title: Optical/IR Follow-Up of Gamma-Ray Bursts from SMARTS
Abstract: We request time to continue the successful SMARTS GRB program currently being carried out with the 1.3m SMARTS telescope equipped with the ANDICAM imager. Our request is 1.5 nights of target of opportunity observing time during semester 2018A. Our primary science goals are: 1) to detect GRB afterglows (which could potentially pinpoint the source of gravitational waves) and analyze their SEDs and temporal behaviors and 2) to search for the supernovae associated with low-redshift GRBs. The 1.3m at CTIO is well- suited for this program because it is equipped with the ANDICAM instrument, a dual-channel optical/IR imager. Our targets of opportunity can be easily accommodated on the telescope because it operates in a queue-based observing mode.
Program Type: Standard/Extragalactic
Run 1 (2018A): CT-1.3m/ANDI -- 15hrs
