Title: High resolution spectroscopy of metal-poor stars in the Galactic bulge from the Pristine survey

Abstract: Metal-poor stars are extremely important because they can be used to reconstruct the earliest star formation history of the Galaxy. In the Galactic bulge, only a small sample of very metal-poor stars ([Fe/H] < -2.5) is currently known and observed in detail. To constrain bulge formation scenarios and early star formation, larger samples are needed. We propose to observe ten stars in the bulge at very low metallicity, pre-selected to be metal-poor in the Pristine narrow-band photometric survey and from full-spectrum fitting of medium-resolution spectroscopic follow-up. This is an increase of 33% of the current metal-poor bulge sample analysed at high resolution. We will measure with high precision multiple alpha-, iron-peak and neutron-capture elements, allowing for comparison with known halo and metal-poor bulge stars, aiding to constrain bulge formation scenarios and contributing to the knowledge about early star formation.
