Title: The Baryon Reservoirs in Ultra Diffuse Galaxies (UDGs)

Abstract: We seek the redshift of a UDG (apparently) in the Coma cluster whose circumgalactic medium we will probe with HST-COS in Cycle 25 using a background QSO. A redshift is needed to prove an association between the UDG and any absorption lines we find in the QSO spectrum. Differences in the absorption redshift and the galaxy's systemic redshift will help determine the origin of the absorbing gas. The UDG's stellar metallicity and age will be derived from model stellar population fitting. This proposal applies for the time awarded from a joint HST-NOAO request for Gemini time made as part of the succesful Cycle 25 HST proposal.
