Title: SFACT: A New Deep Narrow-Band Imaging Survey with WIYN
Abstract: We wish to continue our new survey for strong emission-line galaxies. Known as SFACT -- Star-Formation Across Cosmic Time -- the survey uses the well-established narrow-band filter search technique to detect faint star-forming galaxies at a range of redshifts. SFACT utilizes the new narrow-band filter purchased for use with the up-graded ODI focal plane on WIYN. Our survey method represents an extension of the H$alpha$ Dot survey method to fainter objects and higher redshifts. We expect to detect sources with R magnitudes between 20.0 and 25.0 via a range of emission lines (e.g., H$alpha$, [O~III], [O~II], Ly- $alpha$) and covering a large range of redshifts. The nature of our survey technique will allow us to simultaneously probe the star- formation properties of galaxies over a wide swath of cosmic lookback time -- from the local universe for H$alpha$ detections to a time when the universe was less than half its current age for [O II] emitters. This semester, for the first time, we are requesting telescope time for both the imaging survey observations with ODI as well as confirming spectroscopic observations with Hydra.
