Title: A Search for Pre-Main Sequence Spectroscopic Binaries in the Pleiades
Abstract: We propose Gemini/GRACES spectroscopic observations of M-type Pleiades stars whose low mass and young age place them in the pre-main sequence evolutionary phase. The collection of measurements produced by this proposal will provide new stress tests for stellar physical models and pave the way for a future Pleiades mass measuring program that focuses on a major discrepancy between models and observations of young, low mass stars. The search for low-mass stellar multiple systems in the Pleiades cluster will also bridge efforts that largely have focused on identifying binary companions of stellar members of Solar-mass and above or substellar objects in the cluster.
