Title: Exoplanet Formation In Dolidze-35
Abstract: We propose to continue our investigation of Dolidze-35 to determine the likelihood of extrasolar planet formation in this relatively young open cluster. Extrasolar planets are more likely to be born around stars with higher metallicities (Fischer & Valenti, 2005). We propose to use WIYN+HYDRA and WIYN+ODI to examine the stellar content of the relatively-young open cluster Dolidze-35, to determine the metal enrichment of the cluster, better constrain the age of the cluster, and determine radial velocities for cluster members. We will use the radial velocities, coupled with deep ugriz imaging to refine membership and search for massive planets around the brighter members while building signal to characterize the fainter stellar members to determine the extrasolar planet formation probability this cluster. By obtaining this spectroscopic and imaging data, we will continue our investigation of this cluster, including the determination of Dolidze-35 members likely to contain exoplanets.
