Title: Spectral Evolution of a Black Hole X-ray Transient
Abstract: We propose optical spectroscopic monitoring, for the first time, of a Black Hole X-ray Transient (BH XRT) through an entire outburst cycle from outburst to low Eddington fractions. While spectroscopic observations at various X-ray states have been made for a number of different systems at different orbital periods and inclinations, no study of the same system throughout an outburst cycle has yet been undertaken with adequate sampling. The evolution of the profile of low excitation Balmer lines as the outburst progresses should reveal the relationship between the wind and disk state as the Eddington fraction drops.
