Title: Imagery and Spectroscopy of True and Candidate Planetary Nebulae within Kepler K2 Campaign 2 and 7 fields

Abstract: We propose a) A narrowband imaging and spectroscopy campaign to confirm the nature of 6 new Galactic Planetary Nebula (PN) candidates discovered on digitized sky surveys and located within the fields targeted by the Kepler K2 Campaigns 2 and 7; b) A broadband imaging and spectroscopy campaign to study photometrically and spectroscopically the central stars (CSPNe) of these six PN candidates, if confirmed as PNe; and c) A broadband imaging and spectroscopy campaign to study photometrically and spectroscopically the CSPNe of another four little studied confirmed PNe located in the Kepler K2 Campaign 7 field. All proposed targets have been accepted for observations with the Kepler satellite in the frame of the Kepler K2 Campaign. The spectra and the imaging data will allow correlating the light curves measured by Kepler with the PN and CSPN properties, for example, if they derive from a close binary progenitor. This will allow us to clarify the mechanisms that lead to the formation of a PN phase between the AGB and white dwarf phases.
