Title: High Resolution Gas Kinematics in Young Embedded Super Star Clusters
Abstract: The most intense star formation in the Local Universe is found in very young, deeply embedded Super Star Clusters (SSCs); they can hold up to thousands of OB stars in a few parsec and strongly affect the development of the host galaxy. We propose to obtain with TEXES high resolution spectra of the ionized gas in SSCs. With these data we can determine the spatial structure of the clusters and create a true 3D picture of the ionized gas interacting with the surrounding molecular clouds. The target galaxies are nearby starbursts for which we have ALMA data on the molecules and dust. TEXES data will have velocity resolution ~5km/sec and spatial resolution 3-12 pc, a factor of 4 better than any previous infrared observations and comparable to the ALMA results.
