Title: Continuing discovery and realtime study of the highest redshift superluminous supernovae with u-SUDSS

Abstract: We propose 2 half-nights with DECam to perform u-band imaging that will enable a factor of $sim$ 20 increase in the efficiency of our galaxy monitoring method to detect high redshift supernovae in the ongoing Survey Using DECam for Superluminous Supernovae (SUDSS). The data will be used to identify $z>2$ supernovae for real time follow up 8m-class spectroscopy, to help understand recent classes of supernova explosion mechanisms, to enable the measurement of escaping ionising photons from supernovae, and to provide a valuable extension to the Dark Energy Survey (DES) data set for community use. SUDSS is expected to finalise observations in upcoming semesters. Thus, there is an urgency to obtain these observations to identify and confirm high redshift supernovae in 16B and 17A, as these semesters provide our final opportunities to catch rising and near peak events and to obtain their spectra. vspace{0.1cm}
