Title: Temperatures and Densities in the CO line-emission Disk and outflow from NGC2071 IRS1

Abstract: We propose to obtain high resolution line profiles of CO in the disk of and outflow from the intermediate mass young stellar object NGC 2071/IRS1, using Phoenix on Gemini-South. The new data will supplement decade-old Phoenix velocity-resolved spectra of a few 4.7um 1-0 lines of 12CO, and 13CO and a line of H2, which reveal unusual line ratios and striking differences in line profiles from species to species. We require Phoenix spectra of two additional wavelength intervals in order to more completely describe and constrain the physical conditions in the line-forming region. The phenomena observed in NGC 2071 IRS1 in the infrared, radio, and x-ray bands provide a rare opportunity to resolve the structures and dynamics of both a circumstellar disk and the innermost regions of an outflow of an intermediate mass nearby young stellar object.
