Title: Return to the Heart of Darkness: An Unbiased Survey of Void Galaxies
Abstract: We have developed a novel technique to identify galaxies residing within voids using an NOAO narrow-band filter set. Our successful imaging run has resulted in excellent void galaxy candidates and spectra of one candidate shows that it really does reside in a void. Here, we request spectroscopy for our candidate sample to confirm that they are void galaxies and determine their distribution within voids. The spectra will also provide star-formation rates and metallicity estimates that can be compared to the properties of galaxies that reside in structures. Further, we will compare our unbiased sample with void galaxies found through the SDSS survey.
Program Type: Standard/Extragalactic
