Title: Black Holes in Dwarf Galaxies at Intermediate Redshift
Abstract: We have performed a systematic search for accreting black holes in dwarf galaxies at z~0.5 using the AEGIS field. The occupation fraction of black holes in dwarf galaxies as a function of cosmic time can constrain the formation mechanisms of the first seed black holes, as well as inform the importance of mini-quasars to reionization. We have identified 12 candidate active galaxies using deep X-rays. Here we propose to determine more about the nature of these sources by placing them in optical diagnostic diagrams using GMOS spectroscopy.
