Title: An interferometric calibration of fundamental parameters of double-lined eclipsing binaries

Abstract: We propose to measure using interferometry 4 early-type double-lined eclipsing binary systems with primaries of B-type in order to derive the angular semi-axis and the angular diameter of at least one of the components. These results will be used in a two-fold approach: a) we will be able to derive directly the effective temperature of at least one of the components in each system, thereby avoiding any reliance on empirical calibrations in the global solution through the Wilson- Devinney method, and b) we will obtain an independent check of the results of that method for what concerns the distance to the systems. Using archival and recent RV measurements by our team, we will thus over- constrain the parameters of these systems, allowing us to test the eclipsing binary methods with early-type stars (O and B) which have so far been neglected due to the poor calibrations available for apparent diameters derived using the surface-brightness method.
