Title: Final Host Galaxy Observations for SweetSpot'': Calibrating the Supernova Host Galaxy Light and Environment

Abstract: The SweetSpot'' program (2012B-0500) has observed over 100 SNeIa in the first 5 of its 6 semesters. This proposal is to obtain (1) WIYN+WHIRC final reference images and (2) WIYN+HexPak spatial-resolved spectra of 24 host galaxies from the last year of SweetSpot (2014B-- 2015A). (1) The final reference images are necessary to allow accurate measurement of the SN flux and thus distance for the supernova observed in the last semesters of SweetSpot. (2) Recent work has revealed a relationship between the residual optical brightness of SNeIa and the local star-formation rate (e.g., Rigault et al. 2013, 2014, Kelly et al. 2015). We will use WIYN+HexPak to obtain spatial-resolved spectra to determine the properties of the host galaxy at the projected location of the SN as well as the distribution star formation in the galaxy. These proposed spectroscopic observations will allow us to test whether or not the optical residual brightness -- H-$\alpha$ correlation holds in the NIR. Having deep NIR imaging together with spatial-resolved spectroscopy will make this set of two dozen galaxies a useful general resource for studying star formation and morphologies for the wider community.
