NOAO Library Services
The librarian offers many services to the NOAO staff:
Research Assistance
- Conduct research to fulfill staff informational requests
- Locate and obtain books, journals, and journal articles
- Provide current awareness service - notify staff of information in and outside of library in their areas of interest
- Supply expert guidance
in searching for information
and using databases such as ADS
Physical Collection
- Manage print collections of books and journals, many going back for decades
- Purchase books and journals to support research endeavors
Meeting and Study Space
- Provide community area for research and collaboration
- Provide public computers, study tables, and printer
- Provide areas for quiet study
Archives
- Preserve, organize, and provide access to materials on NOAO's institutional history, including the NOAO Digital Archives, accessible through the Intranet main menu
Publications Tracking
- Maintain lists of publications by NOAO Scientific Staff and by researchers utilizing data from observations on NOAO telescopes and on non-NOAO telescopes to which NOAO has granted community-access time
- Offer assistance
in compiling and editing bibliographic references and lists
