CTIO Libraries

The Mid-Scale Observatories Library in La Serena, Chile, is a research library that supports the work of NSF's National Optical-Infrared Astronomy Research Laboratory staff located in La Serena, Chile, and at Cerro Tololo by providing and facilitating access to information found in both electronic and paper sources.

The physical collection consists of books, journals, and observatory publications in astronomy, physics, mathematics, science, and technology.

The journals and observatory publications are located at Cerro Tololo; the books and the last two years of journals are located mostly in La Serena. The Library Catalog is available by selecting "earch the Online Catalog" in the navigation bar.

New issues of journals are no longer received in paper format (with a few exceptions). The electronic journals available to through subscriptions can be accessed from the Electronic Resources webpage.

The library staff maintain the physical collection, circulate materials, obtain articles and books, track publications that make use of Mid-Scale Observatories telescope data and publications by the organization's scientific staff, and provide reference assistance.
