NGC 6309

NGC 6309 is located in the constellation Ophiuchus. A mid-range distance measurement is about 7000 lightyears, although estimates vary widely. HST also captured a highly-detailed image of this nebula.

20in RC Optical Systems telescope Operating at f/8.1

Paramount ME Robotic Telescope Mount

SBIG ST10XME CCD camera with color filter wheel

LRGB color production was used to create this image.

Luminance data taken on two different nights. The first night's data was taken through clouds so the total effective

integration time is less than 100 minutes.

Three iterations of L-R deconvolution (sharpening) algorithm using CCDsharp were applied to the luminance image.

Luminance = 100 minutes binned 1x1

Red = 10 minutes binned 2x2

Green = 10 minutes binned 2x2

Blue = 10 minutes binned 2x2
