IC 410 Detail: The Tadpole(s)

This emission nebula surrounds a cluster of new-born stars. The tadpoles are possibly sites of current star formation, each being about 10 lightyears long and about 12,000 lightyears away from us. Earlier this year (2014), the tadpoles were featured as an APOD.

Technically this is a two frame mosaic- with each frame totaling 2 hour integration times. The top portion of the

frame (the second picture) was taking during a time when the seeing became poor on this evening.

Luminance = 120 minutes (Hα) binned 1x1

Red = 0 minutes binned 2x2

Green = 0 minutes binned 2x2

Blue = 0 minutes binned 2x2
