  and Coatings Labs

The NOAO Optics and Coatings Labs (NOCL) are facilities of the National Optical Astronomy Observatories (NOAO) Engineering and Technical Services (ETS). NOCL is located at the main NOAO Tucson site adjacent to the University of Arizona. There is a scientific oversight committee for NOCL. Currently B. Jannuzi and D. Joyce serve on this committee. The NOCL supervisor is D. Vaughnn.


Non-NOAO (External) Inquiries:
NOCL does not normally take on contract or external work. All work of this nature is evaluated by these conditions and must be approved by the Director.
  1. Non-Deviation: External work must fit within the greater mission of NOAO.
  2. Non-Competition: NOAO does not compete with the private sector. External work must utilize unique capabilities.
  3. Non-Interference: Production of external work will not interfere with the primary mission of NOCL.

NOAO is operated by the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy (AURA), Inc. under cooperative agreement with the National Science Foundation.
