PROGRESS REPORT
February 20
– March 22, 2002
Accomplishments / Status
Summary: 90% of the work from the Restart Review to delivery has been completed. Progress was made on radiation shield fabrication and mechanism assembly cold testing. The Passive Radiation Shield fabrication is complete. The Active Shields are in fabrication and should be complete this month. The Camera Assembly has completed cold test functional testing and optics were installed into the camera barrels. Normalizing the focus of each camera remains before the assembly is ready to install into the post-slit bench. Final adjustments are being made to the Slit/Decker Assembly prior to warm and cold testing. Cold tests will include the entire Pre-slit Assembly (two Filter Wheels, Slit/Decker, Fore-Optics). The IFU mass model from Durham has been fit checked to the Slit-Slide.
The Grating Turret has completed cold test. The Acquisition Mirror is next in line for cold testing, followed by the Slit/Decker Assembly and then the Prism Turret. Wiring of the benches is in process.
The
Collimator Assembly is complete and final adjustments are being made prior to
installation into the post-slit bench.
Next Milestone: The next major project milestone is the release
of the completion of mechanism testing by April 15th.
