GNIRS
PROGRESS REPORT
January 1 –
January 31, 2002
Accomplishments / Status
Summary: 87% of the work from the Restart Review to delivery has been completed. Progress was made on mechanism testing, radiation shield design, Pre-Slit bench optics installation and alignment, grating turret and camera turret flexure testing, and Camera Barrel assembly.
The Radiation Shield design should be complete and into fabrication by mid-February. Mechanism work in process includes Camera, Prism Turret, and Focus assembly. The Slit-Decker and Filter Wheel assemblies are being prepared for cold testing.
The integration of the actual WFS HgCdTe detector is yet to be done, and the Gemini-furnished prism is still pending.
Change orders for delivery of GNIRS
to Chile, including Testing, Training, and Commissioning, and for the
Differential Pressure Switch, are still in process.
Next Milestone: The next major project milestone is the completion of Active Radiation Shield design by February 28th.
