Educational Resources available through NOAO
This page will collect on-line versions of quality science education
materials such as brochures, lesson plans, and other printed resources.
We offer to scan and electronically distribute these materials and are
especially interested in input from museums and small projects that do not
have resources to do this themselves. If you would like to suggest suitable
materials to be included on this page, please contact
- NOAO Education Office
- P.O. Box 26732

We currently have these resources available:
- A list of Frequently Asked Questions about being an astronomer
. The
FAQ list
was compiled from students' questions with answers provided by staff
members from the National Optical Astronomy Observatories.
- The Sharing Science with Children Guides
developed at
the North Carolina Museum of Life and Science to promote involvement in
science education, are available for browsing or
down-loading. You may choose from these three Sharing Science Guides:
- A recipe for Making a Comet
in the Classroom provided by Dennis Schatz of the Pacific Science
Center. We will soon make available a comet summary ,
describing
our experiences using this recipe with elementary students and
a summary of comet facts by NOAO astronomer Dr. Nalin Samarasinha.
