Spring 1996 WIYN Queue Overview

The Observing Queues

The three Spring 1996 (S96) WIYN observing queues are listed below. Each queue is ordered by TAC grade. There are three active queues:

Class 1 Long Programs - These programs were given the highest priority by the KPNO Director. They were typically given the highest grades by the TAC. They will be scheduled and executed as described in the WIYN Queue Rules.
Class 2 Long Programs - These programs were given lower priority by the KPNO Director. They will be scheduled and executed as time permits when Class 1 programs are unavailable for observation, according to the WIYN Queue Rules.
Short ("2hrQ") Programs - These programs were approved by the KPNO Director and split into Class 1 ("higher priority") and Class 2 ("best effort") catagories. These programs will be executed randomly, with preference given to Class 1 programs.

In addition, Target of Opportunity Programs (TOO Programs) can be inserted at the top of the Class 1 queue at any time at the discretion of the KPNO Director. Currently, we are supporting a TOO imaging program for Comet C/1996 B2 (Hyakutake).
