Acceptance Criteria / Commissioning Requirements for WTTM

Priorities indicated as H(igh), M(edium) and L(ow)

  1. Produce an Observing manual and installation guide [H]

  2. Commissioning report showing the following:

    1. DIQ improvement estimate at various wavelengths (B,V,R,I and Z) via a comparison of contemporaneous MiniMO and WTTM images. Dependence of the above with guide star mag / correction speed, and with distance from guide star. Mean seeing evaluation in B and I. [Highest priority - this measures the worth of the instrument]
    2. distortion map - astrometry solution [H]
    3. wavelength response characterization with each of the dichroic/mirror i.e. broadband BVRI on standard stars [H]
    4. CCD response properties: linearity, fat-zero, noise-isolation, cross-talk [H]
    5. shutter characterization: timing correction and shading correction [H]
    6. image & optical alignment of both, IAS mount, and pickoff-mirror [H]
    7. scattered light measurements [H]

  3. Headers
    1. Verify accuracy and completeness of header information [M] (need to make a list of desired keywords)
    2. suggested recording the actual corrections, or a measure thereof, such as the mean moments on each axis [M]

  4. Some acceptable measure of how instrument interacts with telescope, e.g.
    1. focus tracking works? [H]
    2. does instrument `talk' correctly with WIYN control system? [H]
    3. DADS/STB connection established and working? (DADS:[L], STB:[H])

  5. Functioning ADC? (not a WTTM item per se.. so should be separate from WTTM acceptance) [L]

  6. Determine focus offset wrt MIMO [H] ease of switching between MIMO and WTTM -- how long it takes [H] do flat fields work even after switching [H]

  7. Interface to observer -- i.e. how easy/complex is computer interaction with observer -- finding, setting up a guide star, etc. [H] mode where MIMO image is taken -- info use to set up WTTM [M]

  8. Photometry demonstration and accuracy [M] Characterization of how PSF varies with distance and direction from the guide star [H]
