The ideas described below evolved into one proposed event, a reunion.

Please add your suggestions for topics this committee might consider.

  • How can/should we recognize contributions of key people (e.g. Aden Meinel)?
  • Should we have an alumnae association? What value would it bring to alumnae and the observatory?
  • How can we recognize and involve emeritus and retired employees?
  • Past and longterm employees mention how much more connected they felt to the smaller organization of the past. Consider how we can bring some aspects of that back to the larger organization we have now.
  • Consider a standing committee of employees from various departments to be a sounding board when considering what we can do to build an esprit de corps. An example idea is a regularly scheduled opportunity (e.g. 1x/3months?) for new employees to have a tour of the mountain or downtown to learn what's done in other parts of the organization. Another idea is to institute peer awards to complement the Director's Excellence Awards. Another idea is to help employees understand the final mission of the observatory and how their part fits into it.
