Calculating the value of Telescope Nights
The AASC report recommendation on TSIP states that:
The committee recommends that, in exchange for TSIP
funds, private observatories provide an opportunity to the entire
astronomy community to apply for telescope observing time whose
value (based on amortized investment and operations) would amount
to 50 percent of the granted funds.
To provide guidance for future proposers and to establish a level
of accountability with the community, the calculation and
explanation of the value of nights provided for future successful
TSIP proposals will be published here.
