The label image shows four kinds of images from the GONG instrument. The top left quadrant shows an image from the prototype H-alpha system to be added to the GONG sites, supported by the US Air Force Weather agency. The other quadrants show a 60-second magnetogram (top right), a 60-second Dopplergram formed by merging data from different sites around the network (bottom left), with red and blue representing velocities towards and away from the observer; and a 60-second continuum intensity image (bottom right).

This CD was designed to be usable with any reasonable web browser (MSIE 4 or better, Netscape 4 or better, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Safari) It has been tested on Solaris, Linux, Windows and Mac; however, the autorun feature only works with Windows. The images are PNG or JPG format, the movies are MPEG or QuickTime (.mov); all filenames are in 8.3 format and the HTML uses nothing much more sophisticated than tables. If your browser plays MPEG movies in QuickTime, some of the movies may cause problems with older versions. PDF files require the free Acrobat reader; some of the files may render slowly on older machines. Safari for Windows may require downloading the Acrobat Reader 8.0 plugin.

MSIE 7 may complain about potentially unsafe ActiveX controls -- meaning links to movies and PDF files. There doesn't seem to be any way to avoid this at the authoring end, unfortunately.

Feel free to copy any of the images or movies to your own hard drive for use in presentations etc. (Right click on the link image, select 'Save target as' or your browser's equivalent.)

Enjoy!
