The 2MASS Redshift Survey
The 2MASS Redshift Survey aims to obtain redshifts for all
2MASS extended sources classified as galaxies, located above a galactic
latitude of five degrees, with K-band magnitudes (corrected for galactic
extinction) brigther than 11.75 mag (12.25 mag at a later date). There are
approximately 46,000 galaxies in the 11.75 mag sample and 92,000 galaxies in
the 12.25 mag sample.
The following plots show the status of the survey as of the latest telescope
run. The first two plots show the status of the "bright" (K<11.25 mag) sample,
while the latter two plots show the status of the "faint" (K<12.25 mag) sample.
The first plot in each group is centered at a right ascension of 0h, while the
second one is centered at a right ascension of 12h. As usual, right ascension
increases to the left. The dashed line running across the bottom of the plots
indicates a declination of -20 degrees; galaxies north of that line are
observed from Arizona, while galaxies below that line are observed from Chile.
The concentric regions delinated by dashed lines indicate values of galactic latitude from 0 to 40 degrees, marked every 10 degrees.
