Title: MCAO Astrometry of WISE Y dwarfs
Abstract:
The NASA WISE satellite has delivered an unparalleled harvest of new
ultra-cool Y-type brown dwarfs. It has more than fulfilled its key goal of
detecting the coldest of brown dwarfs, at effective temperatures of less than
500K. We propose to exploit the capabilities of the Gemini MCAO system to
obtain diffraction- limited, wide-field data on these targets for both
measurements of their binary fraction and astrometric measurements of their
distances.
