Title: Identifying B[e] Supergiants in the Magellanic Clouds from Photometry
Abstract:
The late stages of evolution of massive stars are poorly understood, and they
deserve further study. One such class of massive star is the B[e] supergiant.
Precious few B[e]SGs have been identified to date. We ask for Gemini-South
GMOS spectroscopy of 30 B[e] supergiant candidates, that we have newly
identified via optical/IR photometry, in order to confirm their identities as
B[e] supergiants. A previous NOAO program of ours chose 4 targets as B[e]
supergiant candidates based on their optical/IR photometry, and 3 were found
to be B[e] supergiants, demonstrating the usefulness of this approach.
