Title: Diameter of HIP 25486 in the Beta Pic Moving Group
Abstract: We propose to use the CHARA Interferometer on its 314 m east-west baseline to measure the angular diameter of HIP 25486 (F8V). The star is a member of the (beta) Pic nearby young moving group (BPMG) with known parallax. At the 10-20 MY approximate age of the BPMG, HIP 25486 is still contracting to the main sequence. A measurement of its size will provide an estimate of its age which, together with the diameters already known for two other BPMG members, will enable us to assess coevality of star formation of stars in the BPMG.
