Title: Surface Composition of Pluto's Moons Nix and Hydra
Abstract:
We propose to place the first constraints ever on the surface composition of
Nix and Hydra, Pluto's smallest moons. We will use Gemini North's AO system
in conjunction with custom medium-band near-infrared filters. This powerful
combination will allow us to test whether the surfaces of Nix and Hydra
resemble Charon (the most likely scenario from formation simulations), Pluto,
or a neutral surface.
