Title: A NEWFIRM JHK variability study of 4-10 Myr members of the Orion OB1 association
Abstract:
We propose to carry out a coordinated optical/near-IR photometric
monitoring program, to study the multi-wavelength variability of 4-10
Myr stars, with the goal of investigating temporal phenomena linked to
the inner structure of circumstellar disks, and to the physics and early
evolution of (circum)stellar activity. Our target fields are located in
the Orion OB1 association, for which we already have an extensive set of
ancillary data. Our program will allow us to explore variability from
the optical to the IR, on timescales ranging from hours to a few months,
at this yet uncharted age range when disks have evolved and planets are
expected to have formed.
