Title: A WR+BH X-Ray Binary in M74?
Abstract:
From narrow-band imaging we have identified a likely Wolf-Rayet star
coincident with a Chandra X-ray source CXO J013630+154855 in M74. Given the
magnitude and luminosity of the star and x-ray source we are confident that
this is a Wolf-Rayet+Black Hole accreting binary system.
We propose multi-epoch GMOS spectroscopic observations of the mass donor to
(a) classify and provide a quantitative analysis of the mass donor, (b)
confirm that radial velocity shifts are present, (c) determine lower limits
to the mass of the compact object and hence confirm its nature, and (d)
investigate the evolutionary channel that yielded the binary.
