Title: A Survey of Mass Flows in Herbig Ae/Be Stars
Abstract: Herbig Ae/Be stars (HAEBES) are intermediate mass pre-main sequence stars that are generally considered to be higher mass equivalents of classical T Tauri stars (CTTS). However, the current statistics of mass flow signatures do not necessarily support the conclusion that these stars interact with their circumstellar environments in the same way CTTSs do. We will take high resolution spectra of the He \sc i (lambda)10830 line, which is a good diagnostic of both outflows and inflows (Edwards et al. 2006), for 28 HAEBES to perform a preliminary survey of this line in these stars. More robust statistics regarding mass flows will allow us to make meaningful conclusions about the differences between the mechanisms that drive these flows in HAEBE and CTTSs.
