Title: The mixing of blue stragglers
Abstract:
We propose to obtain high resolution spectroscopy for a sample of 17 blue
stragglers in M67, in order to measure abundances of Beryllium, Carbon,
Oxygen and the Carbon isotope (13C/12C) abundance ratio. The main aim of this
project is to measure indications of deep mixing and therefore elucidate the
processes responsible for the formation of these stars, whether stellar
collisions, WUMa type mass transfer or Algol-like binary evolution. The data
will also allow us to measure the importance of magnetic fields and search
for faint companions via their effect on other spectral lines
