Title: Mapping the Nearby Universe: The 2MASS Redshift Survey
Abstract:
Over the past decade, we have carried out an all-sky, flux-limited
redshift survey of 44,600 2MASS galaxies which has served as the basis
for completed and on-going studies of the peculiar velocity field within
15,000 km/s, galaxy biasing, luminosity functions and cluster
properties. Our survey represents an order-of-magnitude improvement
over previous work in terms of number of objects and uniformity of the
selection criteria and completeness in sky coverage.
We request 12 nights (6 nights in each of 2012B and 2013A) to obtain
redshifts for the remaining 437 southern galaxies in our sample, which
probe important areas of the density field.
