Title: Spectroscopy of a New T dwarf Companion to a Nearby Star
Abstract:
We are conducting a survey for substellar companions to nearby stars
using mid-IR photometry from the WISE satellite. Through this work, we
have discovered one of the coolest directly imaged companions. Although
our existing spectroscopy from the IRTF has confirmed the cool nature of
this companion, the signal-to-noise is too low for the measurement of an
accurate spectral type. Therefore, we propose to use GNIRS to obtain a
spectrum with sufficient signal-to-noise for this purpose.
