Title: Mosaic Imaging of the Cep OB3b Cloud

Abstract: We propose wide field V, I and H(alpha) imaging of the Cep OB3 cloud, including the Cep OB3b cluster. This is motivated of evidence of > 5 Myr population of pre-main sequence stars in V and I-band data of a much smaller field centered on the Cep OB3b cluster. Of particular interest is a 7 pc diameter cavity like structure ringed by young clusters including Cep O3b. The presence of an O-star in this cavity suggests the accompanying presence of a large number of low mass stars, but the sparsity of apparent young stars with disks in Spitzer data suggests that the low mass stars must be older than 5 Myr. Color- magnitude diagrams in V and I will be used to search for the isochrone of these sources. H(alpha) imaging will be used to map the structure of the HII region to better define the interaction of the massive stars with the cloud and probe the origin of the cavity like structure. These observations help us probe the star formation history of the Cep OB3b cloud and how the formation of clusters like Cep OB3b are influenced by previous generation of star formation.
