Title: Spectroscopy of A Complete Sample of SDSS Lenses
Abstract:
We propose GMOS imaging and spectroscopy of the most massive lenses
in a sample of 102 galaxy cluster lenses now being imaged by the Spitzer
Space Telescope. This is by far the largest sample of galaxy luster
strong lenses ever defined and studied in a homogenous fashion. These
data will yield lensed source redshifts and multi-band images which are
central to studying both the lensed sources (metallicities, SED fits and
stellar masses) and the lenses via both arcs statistics and detailed
properties of lensing clusters with lensing mass models. These GMOS
data are a core component of an extensive follow-up study including both
optical and IR spectroscopy, optical and near to mid-IR imaging, wide
field imaging for weak lensing analyses, and Sunyaev-Zeldovich effect
data at mm wavelengths.
