Title: Planck SZ Clusters: Follow-up of the Planck Galaxy Cluster Catalog
Abstract:
The Planck Sunyaev-Zel'dovich (SZ) galaxy cluster catalog is the
first all-sky cluster catalog since those resulting from the ROSAT All-
Sky Survey (RASS) of the early 1990s. It will be a powerful, new tool
for the discovery and study of rare, massive clusters thanks to its
large survey volume. Massive systems are invaluable as cosmological
probes because of their high sensitivity to the expansion rate and hence
to the presence and evolution of dark energy. We seek to measure
velocity dispersions and estimate masses for a sample of massive Planck
clusters in order to calibrate the all-important SZ-mass scaling
relation crucial to cosmological applications of SZ cluster counts.
Submitted on behalf of the Planck Multi-Wavelength Cluster Science
Project, our program is part of a large follow-up effort underway on the
Planck Cluster Catalog.
